Helen Szwanek, 78, of Hazard, died Friday, Sept. 18, at Hazard. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Hazard United Methodist Church. The Rev. Arnold Krammer officiating. Burial will be in Hazard Cemetery... Mrs. Szwanek was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Sherman County to Charles and Mary (Zacha) Kozel. She was educated at Sherman County. She married Joe Szwanek, Jan. 4, 1937, at Loup City. They made their home on a farm near Hazard and retired to Hazard in 1976. She worked several years at the Hazard Cafe. She was a member of the Hazard United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mary Ann McCauley of Hazard, Betty Marshall of Salida, Colo.; one brother, James Kozel of Ravenna; four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
