Leola A. Kozisek, 89, of Bruno, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at david place in David City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bruno with Father Ron Homes officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. rosary, at Kracl Funeral Chapel in David City. Visitation continues one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Committal will be in the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. There will be lunch at the church hall. Memorials suggested to family wishes. Leola A. Kozisek was born March 2, 1922, on the family farm near Abie, to James F. and Anastazia (Spatz) Shorney. She attended school in Abie, graduated from David City High School in 1940 and attended Business College in Lincoln. After graduation, she worked at Boys Town and later for the Nebraska Liquor Commission. On May 10, 1943, she married Wilfred L. Kozisek at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Abie. They moved to St. Louis while Wilfred was stationed at Jefferson Barracks. When he was sent to North Carolina, she moved home to await the birth of the first of their five children. When Wilfred was discharged in 1945, they moved to the family farm north of Bruno and lived there until moving to town in 1964. Leola was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the PCCW and taught CCD classes. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, baking, gardening, canning, reading and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith was very important to her, and she prayed daily. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Wilfred; four daughters, Anne (Larry) Pickel, of Denton, Jean (Ron) Jakub, of Bruno, Judy (Gary) Puetz, of Columbus, and Joan Kozisek, of Omaha; daughter-in-law, Karen Kozisek, of Omaha; 10 grandchildren, Pam (Mike) Siroky, of David City, Patty Kmiecik, of Wahoo, Justin (Shiobhan) Kozisek, Jay (fiance Stacy Severa) Kozisek, Nick (Julie) Puetz, Joel (Kelly) Kozisek, Jon Kozisek, Joe Puetz, all of Omaha, Tammy (Mike) Hancock, of Wahoo, and Kim Pickel, of Lincoln; 13 great-grandchildren, Kelsey and her fiance Ross Plybon, Emily, Nathan and Jarrett Kmiecik, Mitch Bartunek, Trevor and Jadyn Siroky, Owen Addysen and Griffin Hancock, Tyler and Ruari Kozisek and Lucille Marie Kozisek; and two sisters-in-law, Marcella Divis and Olga Lehr, both of David City. Leola was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Kozisek; two sisters, Erma Polacek and Evelyn Juranek; and four brothers, Raymond, Allen, James and Ivan Shorney.
