Bio

Gregson Harvey "Dwayne" Gregson, 50, of Birmingham died July 17, 2011, at his home. He was born Sept. 10, 1960, in Mobile to Harvey and Sudie Vonicel Gregson. He grew up in Foley and attended Foley High School. He later attended Patrick Henry Junior College (now Alabama Southern Community College), where he played baseball. He graduated from Livingston University (now West Alabama University) with a degree in computer science. He enjoyed both participating in and watching sports. He was a great baseball player and enjoyed watching college football. He also enjoyed going to concerts. One of his favorite activities was spending time at the beach with his family. He was a member of Double Oak Community Church in Mount Laurel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sudie Vonciel Gregson. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Sherry Murphy Gregson of Birmingham; two sons, Sage and Noah of Birmingham; daughter, Lexi of Birmingham; his father, Harvey Gregson of Loxley; two sisters, Wanda Gregson of Elsanor and Wendy Perez of Woodstock, Ga.; brother, Lynn Gregson of Prairie Grove, Ark.; several nieces and nephews. Visitation begins at 1:30 p.m. with funeral services at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 19 at Double Oak Community Church, Mount Laurel. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20 at Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale with the Rev. Randy Overstreet officiating.
