Bio

Sturgis, Feb. 2 --- F. W. Milek, 95-year-old Sturgis pioneer and blacksmith of this city for more than 50 years, died at his home at 625 Sly St., late Monday night. A blacksmith and later a machinist in Sturgis and known to nearly everyone in the northern Hills, Milek has been a resident here since 1895. He was preceded in death by his wife who died in 1947. Milek is survived by 10 children, 35 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Two sons, John and Charles reside in Sturgis. Funeral services under the direction of the Anderson mortuary have been delayed until other members of his immediate family can reach this city. The services will be held at the St. Aloysius Catholic church, and burial will be in the Sturgis Catholic cemetery. --- From The Rapid City Journal - February 2, 1949
