The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri., Sep 1, 1950 - Page 1: Mrs Katherine Simic Passed Away August 16 Mrs. Katherine Simic, mother of Tony Simic of Superior, passed away at St. Anthony's hospital (sic) at Pocatello, Idaho, on August 16, 1950. Mrs. Simic was 81 years old. She came to America from Czechoslovakia at the age of 11. After her marriage to Anton Simic in 1888, she made her home at Morse Bluff, Nebraska, later at Milligan, and finally at Oak. In June of this year she went to spend the summer with a daughter at Pocatello, Idaho, where her visit was interrupted by illness and death. She will be sorely missed in the homes of her children. She leaves to mourn her loss, eight children; namely, three daughters, Josephine Kasak, Orland, California; Helen Simic, San Fernando, California, and Mary Overturf, Pocatello, Idaho; five sons, Louis of Orland, California; Cyril of Calistoga, California, Adolph of Denver, Colorado; Antone of Superior, Nebraska and William of Beatrice; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Kubik and Mrs Louise Zelenda, both of Clarkson, Nebraska, and Mrs. Josephine Uridil of Platte Center, Nebraska; two brothers, James Jirovec and Joseph Jirovec of Clarkson, Nebraska. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church (sic) at Milligan, Nebraska, on Monday, August 21, with Father Clarence Stirn officiating. Interment was made in the Bohemian National Cemetery.
