Bio
Gladys Marie (Weir) Stem, 84, died July 3, 2011. Gladys was born in Bald Prairie, TX on March 12, 1927. She arrived in Houston in 1944 after graduating from Franklin High School, where she attended Durham's Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at several businesses until she decided to become a full-time homemaker and start a family. She was a devoted Christian, spending her time raising her daughter and doing church work. She returned to work in the secretarial field after her daughter was grown and continued working until approximately 1997. Gladys is preceded in death by her father, Zeal Weir; mother, Eula Dickey Weir; brother, Glendon Weir; and grandson, Stephen Condon. Gladys is survived by her brother, Delton Weir; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Joel Stephenson; grandson, Andrew Condon; great-grandson, Logan Condon; and great-granddaughter, Leslie Barron; nephew, Jerry Weir; nieces, Debbie Burke, Dedra Meeks, Stephanie Diaz and great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call during visitation from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 N. Freeway. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Bald Prairie Cemetery, near Franklin TX.
