Angeline Pavlas Kubala, age 88, passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010. She was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Abbott, to the late Joe and Clara Urban Pavlas. During WWII, Angelina served as a "Rosie the Rivetor". She retired from Citizens Medical Center after working for many years in the Dietary Dept. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, was a member of the Altar Society and was formerly active with the quilting group at the church. She was also a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court of St. Ann. She is survived by her daughter, Maxine Smajstrla and husband John W. of Victoria; six grandchildren, Dianna Smajstrla Foertsch and husband Robert, Kody Wayne Smajstrla and wife Jennifer, Klint Smajstrla, Mark Kubala and wife Rhonda, Kimberly Kubala, and Stacey Kubala-Ledwik and husband Michael; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ashton Foertsch, Mallory, Macey, and Kolton Kubala, and Aubree Ledwik. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Les Pavlas Kubala; and brother, Albert Pavlas. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m., today, Sept. 28, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Dan Morales officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Fatima Cemetery in Abbott. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
