Bio
Bernard G. Crist, 89, of Grand Island died Monday, July 4, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center. His wife, Bernice preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 2006. Survivors are: daughter, Dee Crist of Grand Island; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Marcy Crist of Lincoln; grandchildren, Dustin Crist, Corinne Rogers, Bryan Scherbarth, Christopher Petska, Alan Crist and Jeffery Crist; three stepgrandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson and special friend, Helen Elrod. In addition to his wife, he was welcomed into heaven by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Bernard was raised and received his education at Arcadia. He was united in marriage to Bernice Elrod on Sept. 14, 1941, at Yuma, Ariz. They lived in rural Arcadia until moving to Grand Island in 1950. He was employed by Farm Bureau and Federated Mutual Insurance Company and did outside sales. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 61 years. Some of his enjoyments included golfing and playing cards. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Arizona. Most of all, Bernard loved visiting with friends and family and loved the time spent with his grandchildren. Inurnment was in Trinity United Methodist Church Columbarium, Grand Island, NE.
