Clifford Leroy Swindell, 79, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away June 30, 2009, at an Emmett hospital. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the New Life Christian Center, 212 S. Boise Ave. in Emmett. Interment with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. I was born Oct. 9, 1929 at Oxford, Neb., the second son of Oliver Ted and Isla Geneva (Ireland) Swindell. I attended grade school in Mascot, Neb., moving to Idaho with my parents and two brothers in 1943, and attended schools in Donnelly, Idaho and Emmett. I entered the military service in December of 1950 as one of Truman's Troopers, and served 21 months in the Army, 10 of them in Korea. I was honorably discharged in September of 1952. I married Lorraine Holman on May 18, 1952. I became a follower of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior in 1953, and now enjoy the fellowship at the New Life Christian Fellowship in Emmett. I enjoy square dancing and ballroom dancing and am a lifetime member of VFW Post #4900, in Emmett. I am an avid student of the Constitution and an admirer of those who instituted our republic form of government, establishing liberty and justice for all. As a constitutional writer, my goal was to help save this "more perfect union," not by violence, but by the return to true constitutional laws, just the laws that are truly proper and necessary for carrying into execution the foregoing powers and all other powers vested by the Constitution of the United States of America, not unnecessary laws so broad and inconclusive that they've overthrown the Constitution. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Swindell of Emmett; daughters, Marlene Ireland, Dottie Martin and Loretta King all of Emmett and Tina Feagans of Overton, Texas; sons, Roy Swindell of Emmett, Robert and Zelda Swindell of Cascade, Idaho, Bill Swindell and Krissy Bartus of Boise, Idaho and Matt Swindell and Deanna Lopez of Cedarpine Park, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren; his mother, Isla Swindell of Emmett; two brothers, Irvin Dean Swindell of Boise and Dick and Lula Swindell of Challis, Idaho and numerous nieces and nephews.
