☆～ VETERAN ～☆ Wayne Wilkins, 75, died Monday, September 13, 2010, at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance. Wayne was born June 16, 1935, in Alliance, Nebraska, to Orville T. Wilkins and Audrey V. (Hashman) Wilkins. Wayne served in the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged in November of 1958. On March 15, 1958 he married Leona M. Walter. To this union, three daughters were born. He later married Eileen (O'Malley) Whartman on January 9, 1969. Wayne was a lifetime area rancher and a member of the American Legion Post #7, the Eagles Club and the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA). Wayne is survived by his wife, Eileen Wilkins of Alliance; his daughters, Annette (Larry) Mitchell of Lincoln, Molly (William) Jennings of O'Neill, and Mary Wilkins (Galen) Hauseman of Kalamazoo, Michigan; step-daughter, Jeanne (Hollis) Hackman of Sheridan, Wyoming; and his step-sons, Duane Whartman of Alliance, Jim (P.J.) Whartman of Loveland, Colorado, and Paul (Jody) Whartman of Alliance. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and brothers, Carl (Iris) Wilkins of Chadron and Lonnie Wilkins of Marsland. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. Burial with military rites was in the Alliance Cemetery, Alliance, NE.
