Bio

Funeral services were held recently at Arlington Mortuary in Riverside for former Niland resident Athena Rose Vellas Crha, 70, of Riverside, who died Feb. 28 at the Palm Terrace Convalescent Home in Riverside. Mrs. Crha was born May 31, 1933, in Swatara, Minn. The family moved to California in 1944. She grew up and attended schools in Niland and Calipatria. Mrs. Crha went to work for the Bell Telephone Co. in 1951 as a telephone operator in the El Centro office. She married Joseph Crha in 1956 and transferred to the Riverside office, when her husband moved there. She worked for AT&T until she retired in 1983. Imperial Valley Press March 6, 2004
