YAVORSKY, JOHN CHARLES Former Chula Vista Realtor and World War II and Korean War fighter pilot John Yavorsky passed away on September 24, 2005 in Portland, Oregon. He was 83. He had been a resident of Chula Vista from 1952 until 2003. John was raised in Belle Plaine, Iowa. He earned a B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and a law degree from the University of Iowa. Following graduation, he was trained by the U.S. Naval Air Corps. and commissioned as a Naval Officer and Naval Aviator. He flew in the South Pacific during WWII as a carrier-based fighter pilot of F6F Hellcats with a specialty in night fighting. He also flew fighters in the Korean War. At age 31, he started an insurance agency business and he obtained a California real estate broker license. For the next 34 years to age 65, John was a Realtor and owner of Yavorsky Real Estate with five offices in the South Bay and San Diego. He was a long-time member of the San Diego C.C. until moving to Oregon two years ago. John was active in charity work, and traveled extensively. He is survived by his wife Jo Anne, five married children, Bill, Steve, Suzanne, Kevin and Lee Ann, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren Kie and Erika Yavorsky.
