BLAHAK, DUANE DENNIS QM1 US NAVY VIETNAM A Good Man Deeply Loved From his home in Rancho Penasquitos, he went Home to God, revealing to many the true meaning of courage, as he battled cancer. He was born in Columbus, NE to John and Margaret Blahak. In 1959, he joined the Navy and after a 20-year career, completed another 20 years of Federal Firefighting Service. He was a San Diego resident for 44 years. In 2000, he once again demonstrated his gift of service as a Park Ranger at Lake Poway. A thoughtful, dependable friend to many, and for 16 years a home-loving, gentle, caring companion to Carmen Ember, his beloved care giver until the end. He is survived by his brother Thomas of Colo, sisters Elaine Kurtenbach, Connie Stachura, Theresa Coon of NE, son Dennis of Wash, daughters Delora Stene of Lakeside, Calif, Dorothe Bryant of Texas, Deanna "Pookie" Salazar of Okla, and nine grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 16, 2pm at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma, Calif.
