Martha Henrietta Goolsby Hamlin Martha Henrietta Goolsby, 84, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in Coleman. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlin. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery directed by Adams-Foster- Ray Funeral Home. Born March 17, 1927, in Granger, Martha was a daughter of the late Henry Foy and Nell Mae (England) Conn. She graduated from Stamford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as an LVN. Martha married Woodrow Irvin Goolsby September 23, 1944, in Granger and they moved to Hamlin in 1946. Martha worked for the Hamlin Independent School District as the school nurse for over 20 years until her retirement in 2001. She was a member of the LVN Association of Texas and the Church of the Nazarene. Martha enjoyed helping with the Lions Club glasses donation and the cub scouts. She also enjoyed traveling, working on crochet and scrap booking, but she loved caring her cats and dogs. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers (Jack, Ramon, and Jerry) and brother-in-law (Gilbert Mokry). Survivors include her husband Woodrow Goolsby, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse and Frances Goolsby of Abernathy, and Thomas and Debbie Goolsby of Lubbock; one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Wendell Rice of Santa Anna; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Irene Conn; four sisters, Lucile Mokry, Irene Alexander (and husband, Wayne), Shirley Creppon (and husband, Doug), Mary Lou Lafler (and husband, Billy Ray); six grandchildren, Robert Goolsby, Greg Goolsby, Jimmy Wainscott, Charlie Wainscott, Woody Goolsby and Wade Goolsby; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at the funeral home. Printed in The Abilene Reporter News July 1, 2011
