The Republic (Columbus, IN) 4 Jan 2011 (Tuesday, pg. A9) Mary Elizabeth Ferril Lafayette Avenue Mary Elizabeth Ferril, 77, of Lafayette Avenue, died at 9:40 a.m., Saturday, January 1, 2011, at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Albany, Ky. November 24, 1933, the daughter of Finley and Katy Pauline Melton Willen. Mary attended a Nazarene Church in Kentucky. She was previously employed at Como Plastics, Reliance Manufacturing/Roviar Sewing Factory and Flambeau Manufacturing. Mary retired from Cosco in 1998 and then was employed at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of American Legion, VFW and Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed sewing and crafts and loved spoiling her grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Andreasen officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. She is survived by sons, John (Charlotta) Ferril and Ronnie (Jane) Ferril, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Carlotta (Rafael) Montano of Seymour, Tasha (Michael) Johnson of Crawfordsville, Leah (John) Ferril, Nathan (Eteka) Ferril, Becca (John) Ferril, Linda (Ben) Coleman, Elijah Ferril and Bethany Ferril, all of Columbus; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Malone, Colene (Doyle) Rich, Wilma Dean Burdine and Sue (Kenneth) Fields, all of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jack Ferril; brothers, Prentis Edward Willen, James Willen and Charlie Kenneth Willen; and a sister, Imogene Alexander.
