Bio

Joe Watts 58, of the Dixon Creek Oil company, died at his home, near Borger, Monday afternoon from pneumonia. He lived in Borger since the early boom days and is well known among oil men of the Panhandle field. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, two of whom live in Borger, Miss Jewel and Lillian Watts and Mrs Iva Hallmark of LaRue, Texas. Two sons also survive, Clint Watts Athens, Texas and Clarence Watts of Freeport, Texas. (Published in Borger Daily Herald, january 17, 1928) Borger Citizen Is Brought To Walnut For Burial Walnut Creek, Jan. 23---The remains of Joe Watts was shipped from Borger to this place on Thursday to be buried in the Malakoff Cemetery. Mr Watts was born May 10, 1870, died January 16, 1928, age 57 years. He was reared in Lawrence County, Tennessee. He came to Texas in 1895 and settled in Ellis County. He lived a Christian life for 42 years.He was a good husband and loving Father. A wife and seven children survive, three having passed on in infancy. The children are: Mrs. Silva Hays, Rockwall; Mrs Iva Hallmark, laRue; Mrs Jewel Bonner, Borger; Mrs Gladys Glasgow, Athens; Mr. Clint Watts, Athens; Mr. Clarence Watts, Freeport and several Grandchildren.
