Bio

The story is told that she stepped out on the front porch to ring the dinner bell for her son, John R. Smith, who was working in the field. She fell over on the porch. However, passing neighbors could not get to her because of her loyal dog who kept them at bay until the son arrived. She is believed to have died from a heart attack.
