Bio

Paul G. Dennis, a Garland elementary school principal, died Wednesday of cardiac arrest at Doctors Hospital in Dallas. He was 48. Dennis had been principal of the A.R. Davis Elementary School since the fall of 1984. Prior to that, he was principal of Cooper Elementary School for 15 years. He began his education career as a speech teacher at South Garland High School, where he worked from 1964 to 1968. He taught at Centerville Elementary School from 1968 to 1969. Dennis, a native of Mount Vernon, Texas, graduated from Sulphur Bluff High School and obtained his bachelor's degree from North Texas State University. He obtained his master's degree in education from East Texas State University. Dennis belonged to the First Methodist Church in Garland and Garland Masonic Lodge 441. He was an active member of the Garland Host Lions Club, Garland Elementary Principals Association, Texas Elementary Principals Association and Phi Delta Kappa. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Garland. Burial will be at Restland Cemetary in Dallas.
