~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Son of William Daniel Rather and Nancy Sherrod. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Funeral services for Dr. Houston Rather, 80, former Dallas physician for 19 years, will be conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Lamar & Smith Chapel, Jefferson and Vernon, by the Rev. Paul C. Stephenson of Greenville. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Dr. Rather retired four years ago and moved to Los Angeles. He was a native of Misissippi and practiced in Grand Saline many years. He was a member of the John G. Slayter Masonic Lodge and the Owenwood Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Clarence McClure, J. A. Herrin, E. B. Germany, W. C. Reed, J. R. Dumas, and U. W. Jones.
