Odessa American, The (TX) Thursday, April 15, 1999 ELDORADO, Texas-- Mary Etta Stricklan went to be with the Lord on April 13, 1999, at her home in Eldorado. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Eldorado with arrangements by Kerbow Funeral Home. Burial will be at Eldorado Cemetery. Mary Etta was born August 21, 1928, in McCamey, Texas, to Mayme and Henry Davidson. Mary Etta graduated from McCamey High School, and while working in McCamey, met and married her lifelong partner, Leon Stricklan in 1946. Mary Etta is survived by her beloved husband, Leon; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Toby Tripp of Odessa; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Lori Stricklan of Eldorado; grandchildren, Bradley Beaty of Huntsville, Melanie Stricklan of Robbins AFB, Georgia, Brian Madison of Dallas, Traci Stricklan of Warner Robbins, Ga., Lori Gray of Odessa and Bryan Tripp of Phoenix, Ariz.; great-granddaughters, Megan and Kendall Gray of Odessa; sisters, Linda Walling of San Angelo and JoAnn Willhelm of Kermit; brother, Henry Davidson of San Angelo; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of beloved friends. Mary Etta was preceded in death by her parents Mayme and Henry Davidson, her sister, Charlotte Good, and her brother, Gary Davidson. Mary Etta was a member of First Baptist Church in Eldorado, where she was active in Sunday school, Senior Ambassadors, and youth craft activities. Mary Etta enjoyed traveling, particularly with the Senior Ambassadors. Our beloved Nana will be missed for her wonderful gift of encouraging others with her desire to help and counsel, for her excellent cooking, her talents in crafts and crochet, and her compassion and love that was an inspiration to everyone.
