Janacek, Joe J. Known as "Big Joe", of DeSoto, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2011 in Grapevine, TX. Joe was born in Schulenburg, TX in 1929. Joe met and fell in love with Helen Adamcik who he later married in Hostyn, TX on September 20, 1952 and spent 56 loving years together. Joe was an extremely proud Marine and a member of the "Chosin Few" of the Korean Conflict. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Helen and a daughter Barbara Ann Janacek. He is survived by daughter, Joni Garrick; daughter, Doris Janacek; Son Joe Janacek and his wife Kathy; daughter, Mary Janacek; daughter Susie Cook and her husband Don; son, Paul Janacek and his wife Lisa; daughter, Leigh Ann Merritt and her husband Brian. He was an especially proud and loving "Pa Paw" and adored his fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on June 14, 2011 and a Rosary will be recited beginning at 7:00 p.m., all taking place at David Clayton & Sons Funeral Home in Duncanville. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1111 W. Danieldale Road, Duncanville, TX 75137. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Published in Dallas Morning News from June 11 to June 14, 2011
