FORT WORTH - James Vincent Leito Jr., 78, a dance instructor for James Leito Studio of Ballroom Dancing, died Friday, March 10, 2000, in Fort Worth. Funeral mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Rev. Luke Robertson, celebrant. Burial:Greenwood Memorial Park. Vigil: The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Thompson's Harveson and Cole Funeral Home, when a vigil service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Memorials: The Nolan High School Capital Campaign, in memory of James V. Leito Jr. at 4501 Bridge St., Fort Worth, Texas 76103. James Vincent Leito Jr. was born March 3, 1922, in Fort Worth and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Paschal High School in 1939 and TCU 1943. For more than three years, he served in the U.S. Army and in the 3281st Ordinance Division in the last nine months in Okinawa. He and his wife operated the James Leito School of Ballroom Dancing more than 40 years and it became an institution of teaching generations of families far more than the art of dance, instilling in young minds the propriety of good manners and a proper and correct mode of living. These attributes he carried into the practice of a second profession, interior designer. An associate of Blackmon-Mooring Company more than 20 years, his direction to families and businesses will be respectedas long as memory remains. He was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church, Colonial Country Club, the Steeplechase and president of the Texas Association of Ballroom Dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.V. Sr. and Mildred Leito, early day merchant and his sisters, Mildred Killian and Lena Kuenstler. Pallbearers: Kent Brown, Roger Neely, Michael O'Brien, Dean Tetirick, Salvatore Lococo and Tom Fenoglioi. Survivors: Wife of 50 years, Margaret; son, James Vincent Leito III and his wife, Carol, of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, James Vincent Leito IV, and Christopher and Kelly.
