Bio

Vica Julia Medley passed away Tuesday June 7th at her place of residence, Royal Villa, Payette, Idaho. Vica was born January 24th 1922 in Afton, Oklahoma, to William and Ocie Prater. She lived up to her Cherokee name, meaning "little woman", staying very petite, yet very strong in her will. She moved to the Idaho area and met her true love Dean Medley. Married on October 21, 1940, just three weeks after meeting him. They reared two sons in Bliss, Idaho, managing the Circle Bar Restaurant, they moved to the Ontario Oregon/Fruitland, Idaho area in 1970 and managed the Moore Hotel. After retirement, Vica got bored and went to work for Ore-Ida Foods; she worked there until 1989 when grandchildren became her life. Vica loved to sew, crochet and knit. She spent many hours making wardrobes of outfits for her granddaughters. She loved camping and fishing with family and friends. And enjoyed her evening glasses of wine. Vica is survived by her two sons and daughters in-law, Willie and Lynda Medley, of Island Park/Pocatello, and Ken and Cathy Medley, of Nyssa, OR; three grandchildren, James Loveland, Kimberly and Benjamin Bowlin, Seattle WA, and Jeni Medley, Ellensburg WA; one brother, Buster Prater, from Caldwell, Idaho; three sisters, Mary Aguiliar, from Nampa, Idaho, Norma DeRoin, and Kathryn Slamens, from Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved and adored. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Margaret, brother, Edward, one son, Mikey, husband, Dean of 56 years, and granddaughter, Errin Munk (Willie and Lynda's daughter). Memorial services will be held at Ontario Calvary Chapel 1775 Alameda Dr. Monday June 13th at 11a.m. and a grave-side service in Nampa Kohlerlawn Cemetery, 76 6th Street North, at 2p.m. Services are under the direction of Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel.
