James Henry Rinks was the son of David Rinck and Rebecca (Davis) Rinck. David Rinck was born about 1799 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. David was the son of Johann Frantz Rinck, a Hessian soldier in the Revolutionary War. This line goes all the way back to 1602 in Germany. James Henry Rinks served as a Sergeant in Company A, 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry, U.S., during the Civil War. First wife of James Henry Rinks: Martha Jane Morrison, daughter of Edward Morrison and Lucy Brady. Children from this marriage: 1. Mary Elizabeth Rinks born February 1, 1858 2. Suffina Rebecca Rinks, born 1859 3. Margaret Lavina Rinks, born March 7, 1863 2nd wife of James Henry Rinks was Susan Elizabeth Foster, daughter of Buford & Minerva Foster. She was born in 1845. Children from this marriage: 1. John Henry Rinks, born January 21, 1867. 2. James Arnold Rinks, born October 10, 1867 3. Saphrona Dora Lily Ivanore Queen Victoria Rinks, born April 1870.
