Tyler Morning Telegraph - (Jul/25/2009) Harvey Newkirk Garrett Jr. Harvey Newkirk Garrett Jr. of San Diego, Calif., died July 7, 2009. He was born Dec. 29, 1922, in LaRue and raised in Tulia. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Harvey N. and Maurine Garrett, and two sons, Dennis and Dane. He is survived by his wife, Carole Reames Garrett; and his children, Rick (Suzy) Garrett, Danielle (Patrick) McCay and D'Anne (Rick) Gann. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Megan Campbell of Phoenix, Ariz., Scott Garrett, Newport Coast, Calif., Aidan and Brigid McCay of San Diego. Calif., Addison Gann of Ladera Ranch, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren, Garrett and John Campbell and Olivia and Elle Garrett. Other survivors are his brother, Joe Garrett of California; one niece; and his stepbrother, Gaylon Dingler of Tyler. Harvey was a Navy Air veteran and was buried with military honors at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego on July 14, 2009. He was a Mason and a member of St. Peter's By The Sea Lutheran Church. Services have been held. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4.7
