Waxahachie Daily Light; Jan 23, 1939; Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in Ennis for Tom Kovar Sr., 84, farmer of the Ennis community, who died Saturday at his home four miles west of Ennis, with influenza.Interment in Myrtle Cemetery, Ennis. Mr. Kovar was born in Czechoslovakia Nov 28, 1854, and was married there to Miss Frances Kurtin. They came to America in 1893 and lived in Hempstead, Waller County, TX for seven years, then moved to this community where they have resided since that time. Mr. and Mrs. Kovar had moved to the home west of Ennis only last week. Surviving are his wife and six children, five sons, John and Joe Kovar of Houston, Tom Kovar Jr. of Quinlan, and Charles and Ed Kovar of the home address; one daughter, Miss Frances Kovar, also of the home address. Mr. Kovar was a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge and also a member of the Moravian Presbyterian Church.
