Mildred Clara Habib GALVESTON — Mildred Clara Habib, age 91, of Galveston died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Clear Lake Regional Medical C enter in Webster. Funeral services are 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with Bishop Allen Sheffield officiating. The family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Habib was born June 18, 1921, in Mittie, Louisiana, to Millard Howard and Sabylla Singleton Howard. She was raised in Louisiana where she completed her education before moving to Galveston where she worked at Nathan's Clothing Store, a job she dearly loved. She was an avid gardener, a wonderful Christian lady and a loving m other and grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, a brother, daughter, Lena Whitfield, son, Joe Habib, J r., first husband, James Arthur Porteous and second husband, Joe Habib, Sr. Survivors include, son, lames Porteous and wife Beth of Galveston; step son, Todd Habib and wife Rebecca o f Galveston; son-in-law, Ronald Whitfield and wife Barbara of Splendora; daughter-in-law , Mary Habib of Galveston; grandchildren, Michelle Hudson , Kim berley and Melvin Henneke, Stacy and Frank Spanos, Ale Porteous, Jamie Porteous, Alex Habib and Keith Habib; greatgrandchildren, Candice Henneke, Caroline Henneke, Courtney and B.D. Hailey, Megan Ausmus, Tiffany Spanos and Ronnie Spanos; close friends, Robin and Jeff Dudley; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Galveston Daily News Sep. 22 2012
