Rev. George N. Burns, a Cumberland Presbyterian minister and father of Emmett W. Burns, of this city, died of Kidney trouble at his home in the Southwestern part of the county, last Sunday. He was an old and highly esteemed citizen of the county; therefore his death brings sadness to many hearts. He lived in this county many years and was well and favorably known all over the county. Where he had preached and was known he had a host of friends. Rev. J. K. Craven, of this city, officiated, after which the body was laid to rest in the McGrady Cemetery. Rev. George Nicholas Burns obituary, Memphis, Missouri, Memphis Reveille, 16 Mar 1899, p. 3, col. 3
