NINA "NORINE" NELSON, 90, of Fort Morgan, went home peacefully, surrounded by her family, Monday morning, March 12, 2012. She was born July 13, 1921 in Umpire, Arkansas to Ed & Sallie Luster. Norine was one of 13 siblings, growing up in and around DeQueen, Arkansas. She married her childhood friend, Dewey Nelson, on October 7, 1941. They were married 54 years before his death. Norine accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was a teenager and she always remembered her family in prayer. She was one of the kindest, most loving, giving, and forgiving people ever. Norine was very active in the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary for many years in Texas and Fort Morgan. She served as president for 2 terms and and was an officer every year. Norine is survived by her children, Marilyn McCoy & husband, Steve of Greeley, Jerry Nelson & wife, Kathy of Ukiah, CA, and Denise Christenson & husband, Mike of Taylor, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren, Michael Howell, Angie Sohler, Keith Nelson, Tina Nelson, Amanda Rosenburg, Melissa Christenson, Susan Christenson, and Mark Christenson; 4 step grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dewey Nelson; and her daughter, Margaret Brandt. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 14th from 4 – 6 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 15th at 2:00 PM, also at the chapel. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan. Memorial donations may be made to the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
