Poth. - Alfonso William Stavinoha, a farmer in the Three Oaks Community, passed away at the family residence at 11:05 P.m. Tuesday, December 29, 1970 at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 14 days. The body lay in state at Vinyard Funeral Chapel, Poth, where Rosary services were held Thursday at 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, January 1, 1971 at the chapel followed by a Requiem Mass in Blessed Sacrament C with Rev. Jim Henke officiating. Burial was in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery. Pallbearers were victor and Emil Stavinoha, William and Charles Sliva, Larry Selzer and Eugene Valenta. He was born September 15, 1897 in Lavaca County, the son of Ignac and Catherine (Nowak) Stavinoha. At the age of 3 years, he moved with his family from Lavaca County. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the SPJST Lodge, Hobson. October 13, 1924 he was married to Miss Rosalie Valenta in Shiner. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Korzekwa of Hobson; a son, Albert A. Stavinoha of Three Oaks; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Walker, Mrs. Rose Corbin, Mrs. Christine Martin, Mrs. Bessie Sliva and Mrs. Clara Dettling, all of San Antonio; two brothers, Anton and Ed Stavinoha, both of Poth; a half brother, Joe Stavinoha of Kerrville; and 4 granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Stavinoha Sr. on January 11, 1962. Shiner Gazette, Shiner, Texas, Thursday, January 14, 1971
