Bio

Isaiah Sidney Baker, 66, retired farmer, died Sunday morning at 6:20 o'clock at the home of a son, Clyde Baker, Trinidad Route 1, after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Elm Grove Church, followed by interment in the Elm Grove cemetery. The Athens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Baker was born on March 15, 1877, in Alabama, and had resided in Texas for fifty-three years. He came to Henderson county two years ago from Forney. Surviving are his wife; four sons: Isaiah (Bud) Baker of Scurry, Clyde Baker of Trinidad, and Chester and Raymond Baker of the U.S. Army; five daughters: Mrs. Will Odom of Trinidad, Mrs. Myrtle Jackson of Athens, Mrs. Ruby Coston of Kaufman, Mrs. Sammie Mitchell and Miss Annie Baker of Trinidad; one sister, Mrs. Mary L. Reed of Ennis and one brother, Fate Garrison of Sidney. Published in the Athens Review July 15, 1943
