Bohumil Karas was born at Table Rock, Nebraska April 11, 1877 and died at the home of his son, Emil Karas, Barnes, Kansas November 26, 1933 at 56 years 7 months and 15 days. He grew to manhood in Nebraska and in 1899 was married to Elizabeth Holechek and to this union were born two children, Clematine Moravek, Washington, Kansas and Emil, at Barnes, Kansas. In 1907, the family moved to Kansas and located at Greenleaf which has since been their residence. Mr. Karas lived an honest life and was kind to all. For the past two years he has been in poor health and last year he came to make his home with his son to have better care. He was hopeful to the last, never realizing the end was so near. His wife died in 1926. He leaves two children and two grandchildren, a brother and three sisters, Joe Karas and Mrs. Mary Kovanda of Table Rock, Nebraska, Mrs. Emma Slama and Mrs. Rosa Skalak of Humboldt, Nebraska, and other relatives and friends. He was laid to rest beside his wife in the Mount James Cemetery at Greenleaf, Kansas.
