Bio
Margaret was the daughter of Elijah Truitt & Eliza Jane (Taylor), formerly of Ross County, Ohio. Margaret attended public school in Buckskin Township, Ross County, OH in 1850. In 1856, the Truitt family migrated to Elba Township, Knox County, IL. Margaret Truitt and Jonathan Dunham Drake were united in marriage on January 29, 1867 at Sparland, Marshall County, IL. To their union, 6 children were born: Jennie Marie Stroud, Frank Martin Drake, Toddler Ella Drake, Grace E. Journey, Infant Clara Belle Drake, and Fred Newton Drake. In 1870, the couple was farming in Richman Township, Wayne County, IA. In about the same year, they relocated to Benton, Ringgold County, IA, where Mr. Drake's parents lived.
