Lulu J. Turlington Passes Away Here The Seminole Producer, Dec. 8, 1944 Mrs. Lul J. Turlington, a well-known pioneer resident of Seminole passed away at her home Thursday evening, Dec. 7, 1944. She was born Dec. 10, 1866 near Brundage, Alabama in Pike county. She moved to Seminole October 1, 1906 from Tidmore, Okla. Mrs. Turlington was very active in the city's literary clubs and in the Methodist Church until her health began to fail. She was one of the first members of the Methodist Church, becoming a member of the church in 1907 when Ivan Glynn was pastor here. She became a charter member of the Seminole Chapter of Order of Eastern Starts in 1927. Her survivors include two sons, Jim Hill, Muskogee, and Marcie Turlington, Jr., of the home address. Four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Helen White, Ryan, Okla., and Mrs. Kate Chilcoat of Jenks, Okla; Two brothers, Colen Leddon, Big Springs, Texas, and A.M. Leddon of Ryan, Okla. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at the Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Rev. B.W. Williams of Henryetta will officiate with Rev. H.W. Jordan assisting. Chadwicks Funeral Home will be in charge. --------------------------------- Wife of (1st husband)James M. Hill 1858 – 1896 Mrs, Lulu Leddon Hill, the widow of J. M. Hill, formerly a well known and prominent merchant there. Mr. Hill died at thirty-seven years of age, leaving two sons, Grady and James. Mrs. Turlington's father, A. M. Leddon, was a Civil war veteran of the Confederate army, a member of Company G, Sixth Alabama Infantry. Wife of (2nd husband)Dr. Marcellus Martin Turlington 1868 –1949 (Married on 7 Mar 1900 at Freestone County, TX) Dr. Turlington was a popular physician of Seminole. He was one of the first residents of Seminole, arriving here October 1906. Dr. Turlington was a graduate of Fort Worth Medical College being a member of the class of 1896. "Editor J.G. Bennett wrote in his personal column "The state of Texas made a fine contribution to Oklahoma when Dr. M.M. Turlington moved from the Lone Star state and located in Seminole." He was a twin to Marellus junior Marcellus Martin, JR Turlington 1901 – 1970 Buried next to his wife Laura in Daytona Memorial Park, Daytona Beach,Volusia County, Florida
