WALTER ALEXANDER JR. Obituary Walter L. Alexander Jr., 92, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, May 7, 2011, in a Bonham, Texas, hospital. Mr. Alexander was born July 17, 1918, in Jefferson, Texas. He was reitred from Day and Zimmerman and a U.S. Army WWII Veteran having served in the 6th Armored Infantry Batallion and 1st Armored Division in North Africa and Italy. He received two Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star . He was also a member of the Billy T. Norton VFW Post. He is preceded in death by his wife Alice Katherine Alexander. Survivors include two sons James Edward Alexander of Marshall,Texas and Walter L. Alexander III of Texarkana, Texas. One sister Virginia Gustin of Knoxville,Tn and his grandchildren, Christopher Alexander of Texarkana, AR. and Kate Marie Alexander of Texarkana, TX. and Kimberly Jo Alexander of Texarkana,TX. Graveside services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Michael King officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday, May 9, 2011 at East Funeral Home Moores Lane. Services are under the direction of East Funeral Home Moores Lane.
