The Liberty Vindicator (Liberty, Texas) 08 May 1969, Thu, Page 8 HARDIN---Funeral services for Sam L. Dowdell, 88, of Hardin were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Allison memorial Chapel in Liberty. The Rev. Sam Cain officiated. Burial was in Moss Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers were Raymond and Kenneth Dunn, J. T. Grimes, M. R. and Melvin Vaughn and James T. Ramsey. Dowdell died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday in Kersting Memorial Hospital. He had lived in Hardin 40 years and was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons; Ambrose Dowdell of Splendora, Chris Dowdell of Humble, and Lester Dowdell of Plainview, NY, three daughters, Mrs. Katie Nugent of Hardin, Mrs. Josephine Grimes and Mrs. Ethel Stephenson, both of Houston; one brother, Frank Dowdell of Hull; two sisters, Mrs. Sallie Abshier of Devers and Drusilla Bohacek of Daisetta; 22 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
