ARLINGTON - James William "Bill" "Dusty" Floyd, 67, of Arlington went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, the 29th of April 2011. He was born on the 17th of August,1943, in Dallas, Texas. He was the eldest child of William Bryan and Hazel Arrington Floyd. Bill attended Harmony School through the eighth grade, when he transferred to Gilmer High School in the fall of 1956. He graduated in 1961. He served his community by volunteering with the Gilmer Fire Department from 1957 to 1964. Following high school, Bill attended Kilgore Junior College, Stephen F. Austin State University, and graduated from East Texas State University in 1965. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed at Quantico, where he attended Officer's Candidate School. In 1966, Bill married Blair Wilburn, and together they raised two lovely daughters. During his college years, he spent his summers driving trucks to earn spending money. He discovered that he loved to travel and chose to continue trucking following his Marine service. He purchased an "18-wheeler" and became an owner/operator until 1977. Finally, he settled in Dallas and began a second career as a crane operator. This profession continued until his retirement in 2006. Upon retirement, Bill finally found time to pursue his long-loved hobbies of wood-working and photography. Bill's other passion was flying. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved parents and wives, Ginny Courson Floyd and Paula Wood Floyd. He is survived by his fiancée, Marilyn Peterson, of Arlington; two daughters and their husbands, Karin and Mike Tackett of Gilmer and Rachel and Ed Nelson of Wyckoff, NJ; and six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kamden, and Kenly Tackett, and Arri, Christie, and Lindsey Nelson. He is also survived by his first wife, Blair Wilburn Poole, and his sister, Brenda Floyd Hills and husband George Schneider; his nephew, Scot Floyd Hills and wife, Sherri, and their daughters, Bradli Arrington and Davis Macey Hills. He will be missed by his family and friends now and forever. He will live on in all the hearts that remember him. Memorial services will be at Moore Funeral Hom, 1219 North Davis Drive in Arlington at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, the 9th of May, 2011.
