Bio

Elsie Watkins Monson returned to her heavenly home April 26, 2011 at the age of 97. Elsie was born in Lehi on Nov. 11, 1913 to Joseph William Watkins and Ethel Ette Ross Watkins. She married George Elwood Monson on April 26, 1933. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Three sons and two daughters were born to this union. They raised their family on the family fruit farm in Pleasant Grove where Elsie has lived these many years since her marriage. Elsie was an active member of the LDS church. Her favorite calling was teaching the handicapped children at the developmental center. Elsie is survived by her children, Muriel Elliott, Ross Monson, Michael (Wilma) Monson and Marietta (Dennis) Hullinger. She has 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Verla Hancock. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brothers, Ross and Val and her infant son Norman. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
