Robert T. Wiese (1930 - 2011) Robert T. Wiese, 80, of Fort Worth, a retired air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, at a care center. Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. George Catholic Church, 825 Karnes. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Robert was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Hillsboro. He grew up in Gainesville. He was an air traffic controller for the Air Force, serving in Korea during the Korean War. Shortly after leaving the Air Force, he joined the FAA in 1957 as a controller at College Station Easterwood Field. He moved to Fort Worth in 1958 and was at Meacham Field as a controller at Meacham Tower for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus 4709 and a longtime member of St. George Parish. The family would like to thank each and everyone at Life Care Center of Haltom and Hospice Plus for all the wonderful care they provided. Survivors: Wife, Cathleen; daughters, Susan L. Wiese of Portland, Ore., Teri D. Harrison and husband, Mac, of San Antonio; sons, Robert T. Wiese and wife, Marilyn, of El Paso and Jim M. Wiese and wife, Melinda, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Michael, Amanda and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Lia; and brother, Leonard N. Wiese of Gainesville.
