Bio

Mary Ann Sanca, age 88, of Robertsdale, Alabama, joined her husband, Richard “Dick” Sanca in eternity on February 9, 2016. They were married March 5, 1949 and were inseparable until his death in 2006. Mrs. Sanca, born December 16, 1927, was a lifelong resident of Robertsdale, AL until her health forced her to move to Orlando, FL in 2006 to live with her daughters. She died peacefully in Orlando at the Magnolia House (HPLS) Assisted Living Home, which, in addition to her family, provided loving care for several years. Mrs. Sanca was the daughter of John and Frances Svetlik of Robertsdale, AL. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, August Mazoch, and sister, Alice Petelinski. Surviving Mrs. Sanca are two daughters and sons-in-law, Claire Stern and Sam Ewing of Winter Park, FL, and Eric and Terri Spaulding of Belle Isle, FL; one grandson and his wife, David Maolculm Andrews and Gwen Miller of Robertsdale, AL; one step-grandson, Scott Spaulding of Vermillion, SD; and two great-grandchildren, Julian and Aeva McAlister of Robertsdale, AL. Mrs. Sanca was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a devout Catholic. She supported the initial planning and development of Robertsdale’s successful St Patrick’s Catholic Church and School, and was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Mrs. Sanca was a homemaker, but also supplemented working in the family business, “Gulf Sausage Company, Sanca Brothers”, before its closing in 1978. She loved to cook, bake, and can vegetables, preserves, and jellies She will be missed by her family and friends, but she and Richard will live on in the spirit of their family members. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 2 PM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to Mass at the Church. Interment will be held in Silverhill Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Silverhill Cemetery Association 22550 McPhillips Rd. Loxley, AL 36551.
