Services for Vernon E. Miley, 62, of Lufkin, were held Sunday, Aug. 29, 1993 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Miley was born Sept. 3, 1930 in Etoile, Texas and died Friday, Aug. 27, 1993 in Lufkin. He was a member of Wood Forest Baptist Church in Houston and the Lufkin Masonic Lodge No. 669 AF&AM. He was a retired assistant superintendent of Mill Services for Champion Paper Company in Sheldon, Texas, following 38 years of service. He served his country in the U S Navy during the Korean Conflict. He had resided in Lufkin for eight months and was a former resident of Houston. Survivors: wife, Betty J. Miley of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Colleen Miley of Longview, Texas and Jason and Cathy Miley of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Caleb and Josh Miley of Longview, Texas and Lisa Miley of Longview, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, J. B. and Charlene Miley of Houston; aunt, Maxine Davidson of Etoile, Texas; uncles, Gerald Mooney and Garvin Mooney; and special mother-in-law, Marie Fancher Teer of Burke, Texas. Mr. Miley was preceded in death by his parents, Dartha and Delton Miley, brother, Lindell Miley and sister, Garvis Miley Cox. Gipson Funeral Home, directors.
