Bio

TRICE, SR., JACK LYNDON ~ After a long and courageous battle with cancer, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother Jack Lyndon Trice Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and devoted family on May 4, 2008 at his residence in Lancaster Texas, he was 55. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Linda Trice and three sons, Jack Jr., wife Jennifer and their daughters Allison, and Marley all of Wills Point, Son, James, wife Kelly and their son, Jake of Lancaster, Son, Jared of Lancaster, Sister, Denise Trice Dworaczyk and husband Steve. Early in his life Jack lived in Oak Cliff, but most of his growing up years were spent on the family farm in DeSoto Texas. As a teenager he helped run the family farm, spending many long hours alongside his father doing daily chores, as well as plowing and planting in the fields. He learned to fish and swim in 10 Mile Creek that ran through the farm, it was in that creek where he taught his sister to swim. At a very young age Jack began a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, and the great out doors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and went on many expeditions through Texas, Colorado, and Mexico. Being nicknamed "Mr. Fixit" by his mother at the age of 9, Jack had a Godgiven talent for repairing things, and working on automobiles. If something broke he knew how to fix it. Upon graduation from DeSoto High School in 1971, Jack went to work as a mechanic at Johnson Ford in Waxahachie. Later he worked at Edwards Ford as well as Jefferson St. Garage in Lancaster. Jack had many faithful customers who followed him from one employer to the other, only allowing him to work on their cars. In 1982 Jack got out of the mechanic business, and became a sub contractor for SW Bell. He was active in that business until his death. Jack's untimely departure from this earth leaves an empty spot in the hearts and lives of those who knew and loved him. He was a gentle giant, who truly loved spending time with his family and friends. Jack accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of 7. We can find comfort in knowing that because of his salvation, he is now at peace in the presence of our Lord, and we will see him again someday. Visitation Tuesday evening from 6-8 at funeral home. Funeral service at 10 AM Wednesday in Bynum Funeral Chapel. Interment in Grove Hill Cemetery. Byrum Funeral Home 425 North Dallas Avenue Lancaster. Dallas Morning News May 6, 2008
