Bio

Dollie Fletcher Scott, age 85, of Coleman, died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Coleman with Rev. Mike Kerzee, pastor officiating. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. Funeral services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman. Dollie was born on May 20, 1925 in Millersview, Texas to Thomas Sloan Fletcher and Mary Catherine Collier Fletcher. She lived in Millersview, Texas until moving to Valera in 1936. She graduated from Centennial High School and later attended Louisiana State Normal, now know as Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Dollie married Gordon Scott on September 23, 1945 in Valera. They moved to Houston in 1975 and later moved to Tomball, Texas. Dollie then moved to Coleman six years ago. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church in Coleman. She is preceded in death by her husband Gordon on November 22, 1990 and two brothers. Dollie was a loving homemaker, wife, and mother. She truly loved her family. She is survived by two sons, Douglas Scott of Houston, Texas, Sloan (Wallace) Scott of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Joyce McDermott and husband Ron of New York, Suellen Stephenson and husband Joel of Mansfield, Texas; four sisters, Annie Mae Brimer of Coleman, Mary Ward of Nevada, Merle Spruill of Odessa, and Winnie Dais of Waco; eight grandchildren, Scott McDermott, Penny McDermott, Sara Maida, Ryan Stephenson, Clint Stephenson, Glenn Scott, Brian Scott and Robert Scott; five great-grandchildren. A family visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman.
