Taken from 3/26/67 Lawton Constitution newspaper: M.L. Hemphill64 of 2063 1/2 Smith who died Friday in an Oklahoma City hospital after a 3 yr illness. Mr. Hemphill was born in Oconto, NE and came to Lawton in 3/52 from Joplin, MO. He worked at Ft. Sill as a barber for 7 yrs until his retirement 3 yrs ago. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No.548. He was married to Nillie Roberts of Neosho, MO. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife of the home, four sons Loyde Montclair, CA, Earl E. Carl Jct., MO, Donald L. Rockford, ILL and Murrell Lynn of the home; 3 daughters Mrs. Mildred Lawson, Joplin, MO, Mrs. Carol Bordovsky, Lawton, OK and JoAnn Sullivan of the home, 2 sisters Mrs. Alvin Adkins, Joplin, MO and Mrs. B.W. Easley, Arlington, TX and his mom Elva Hemphill, Joplin, MO and 10 grandchildren.
