Death Summons to Mrs George Ubben Mrs. Rhoda Snurr Ubben, 58, a notice of whose death appeared in The Herald last week, was born December 10, 1882 in Nemaha county the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Snurr. She passed away Tuesday, November 25, at the home near Auburn after an illness of about six months duration. During the past summer she was confined for about ten weeks in an Omaha hospital where everything possible was done to cure the lady which proved fatal to her. When Mrs. Ubben was a small child she moved with her parents to Dawson county where the early part of her life was spent. At the age of eighteen years she returned to Nemaha county to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Mayer. She was married March 8. 1905 to George W. Ubben. and to them two daughters were born. She had made her home on the farm south of Auburn for the past thirty-six years, being favorably known throughout the community as a kindly and helpful neighbor, a devoted wife and mother. When a young woman she became a Christian and was a member of the Auburn Christian church, taking a genuine interest in all affairs of the church. She attended services as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Ubben had many friends throughout the Auburn community who regretted to learn of her death, and extended their deep sympathy to the members of the family in their time of sorrow. She is survived by her husband, George W. Ubben; two daughters, Miss Vera Ubben at home, and Mrs. Henry Holthus, Auburn; one grandson, Vaughn Holthus; two brothers, Harvey Snurr and Joe Snurr, both of Sumner, and two nieces and two nephews; also of Sumner. The funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Christian church in Auburn, conducted by the pastor Rev. Lawrence W. Bash. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet including Mr. and Mrs. Chris Sorenson, Miss Bess Anderson, and Dr. I. W. Irvin. They sang two selections, “In The Garden” and “Beautiful Isle.” Harlan Smedley played the accompaniment. The pallbearers were: Dr. Edgar Cline, Henry Hillers, Jack Barker, Jess Gerdes, Walter Teten and John Mayer. Burial was made in Sheridan cemetery. Among those from out of town who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Varro Hall, Omaha; John Ubben, Long Beach, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Ubben and son of Peabody, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm Giesman, Sterling, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Keen, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Niedermeyer, Mr. and Mrs. Seiplemeyer, all of Talmage; Mrs. Glen Mayer, Los Angeles, Calif.; Roy Mayer of North Platte.
