Bio

Oliver H Pelton died at his home in Beatrice after an illness of one week, aged 71 years. Oliver was a veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted in Chickasaw County, Iowa, as a Private on 28 Oct 1861 at the age of 22. Mustered 26 Nov 1861 in Co H 4th Iowa Cavalry. Promoted Wagoner 1 Nov 1863. Re-enlisted and re-musterd 11 Dec 1863. Mustered out 8 Aug 1865 at Atlanta, Georgia. Oliver married Mary Ellen Hunn 18 Mar 1864 at Charles City, Iowa. *** Parents: Israel Pelton & Lucinda Earley
