Bio

Dorothy Leona (Fox) Morris Rust, 88, of Stromsburg, formerly of the Clarks area, died Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola. Dorothy was born on Oct. 21, 1922, near Fullerton to William "Guy" and Eva (Gottschall) Fox. Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Morris, and her second husband, Sam Rust, Jr. Survivors are: sons and daughters-in-law, Dale Morris of Clarks, David and Donna Morris of Kalispell, Mont., Jerry and Melodae Morris of Omaha, Terry and Teresa Morris of Lascassas, Tenn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Erma and Don Grosch of Silver Creek, Connie and Mike Ziemba of Conroe, Texas; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, David and Claudia Rust of Tioga, N.D.; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Lois and Larry Davenport of Minneapolis, Minn.; sister, Beulah Wilson of Apache Junction, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Dorothy grew up in Nance and Merrick Counties and received her education at District 63 School near Clarks. After completing her education, Dorothy worked for her sister, Bernita Dittmer. On Dec. 17, 1941, Dorothy L. Fox and Louis T. Morris were united in marriage. While Louis was serving in the military, they lived in several states before returning to the Clarks area to farm and raise their family. Louis died on Feb. 5, 1980. On Sept. 7, 1986, Dorothy was married to Sam Rust, Jr. and they made their home in Mercer, N.D. Dorothy returned to Nebraska in 1996, where she lived in Silver Creek. She was living at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg at the time of her death. Dorothy was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clarks and attended the Baptist Church after her remarriage. She enjoyed baking and was well-known for her homemade buns, cinnamon rolls and pies. Dorothy was an avid pitch and dominoes player and her family always knew to expect the unexpected from her. The greatest enjoyment for Dorothy came from the time she spent with her family. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her siblings, Delora Schmid, Bernita Dittmer, Joe Gier, Sylvan Fox, DeWayne Fox, Orville Fox, Murray Fox, and Hubert Fox.
