Sarah McDonald Boyd passed away into the arms of her Lord Friday evening, April 15, 2011. She was surrounded by her family. Until recently, she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Big Spring. She loved her Sunday School class, Monday afternoon bridge and coffee with many life-long friends. Sarah was born on February 6, 1923 to parents, Charlotte and Dan McDonald of Riley Springs, Texas, Hopkins County. She was one of nine children and one of a second set of twins. As a young woman, she had two goals, marry a town boy (so she would never have to pick cotton again) and dye her hair black. She achieved the first goal when she married Ernie Boyd of Sulphur Springs, Texas on August 3, 1952. We are grateful that her second goal was never attained. Ernie and Sarah moved to Ozona, Texas in 1953. They lived there 12 years and made many wonderful friends. The family then moved to Big Spring in 1965. Health reasons caused them to relocate to Dallas in July of 2010. Sarah is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ernie; three daughters, Susan Simco and husband, Richard of Arlington, Carol Boyd of Big Spring, and Emily Boyd of Dallas; two grandchildren, Ryan Pasley of New York City and Rachel Barry and husband, Blake of Arlington. She is also survived by her twin sister, Sybil McClendon of Sulphur Springs and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by Rick and Ashley Simco, Chris Simco, Nicole and Kenny Singleton and their children Bryce and Breeley. Visitation for friends and family will be held at the Nalley Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring, from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. on Monday, April 18, 2011. Services will be at First Baptist Church of Big Spring on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Graveside services will be held in Sulphur Springs, Texas on Wednesday, April 20 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sulphur Springs City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com
