Funeral for Mildred Martin Gill, 77, of DeRidder, were Thursday, Feb. 3, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, the Revs. Frank Ott, Clyde Dowden, and Roger Gill officiated. Burial followed in Smyrna Cemetery in Sugartown. She died at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Pitkin but lived most of her life in DeRidder. She was a former school teacher who taught at Pitkin Elementary and East Beauregard High School. She also taught piano in her home for 30 years. She was a graduate of McNeese State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Sugartown and a member of Friendship Chapter 210 Eastern Star in Sugartown. Survivors include one son of DeRidder; one daughter of DeRidder; two sisters; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of James Toliver and Jessie Mitchum Martin.
