Bio

Sharon Jo Warta, 62, of Kearney died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Sharon the oldest of five children, was born July 2, 1948, in Kearney to Joseph and Elva (Sheehan) Warta. Survivors are: sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Dennis Larsen of Kearney, Jane and Randy Kreun of Pleasanton, and Renee and Allen Sazama of Doniphan; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Brenda Warta of Grand Island and a host of relatives and friends. Sharon grew up with her family in the Sumner area. She attended boarding schools for children with special needs in Broken Bow and Cozad. Later, she moved to the Beatrice Developmental Center for a few years before relocating to a residential/vocational setting in Cozad. She has resided in Kearney for the past 18 years and attended vocational training at Mid-NE Individual Services where she was surrounded by caring, supportive staff members and friends. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly on holidays. Other memorable experiences included being pampered with manicures, having her hair styled, and attending dances, parties, and picnics. Activities she enjoyed with her sisters included shopping, going to the zoo, dining out, and going on day trips. Her younger brother, Gary, was always a favorite she referred to as "My boy".
